Why Do You Need an Automatic Daily Report?
Hello everyone, I'm the kind of average user who loves tinkering with smart home devices but hates complexity. My elderly parents live with me, and although I've installed various sensors—door sensors, motion sensors, temperature and humidity monitors, smart pill boxes, etc.—having to manually review all that data every day and compile it into a single message to send to the family is honestly quite exhausting. Especially when I get busy, I sometimes forget to ask how my parents are doing that day.
So when I discovered this Skill called Eldercare Daily Report — Báo cáo ngày, I was overjoyed. It's like a thoughtful family assistant that automatically gathers the elderly person's daily activities—sleep, medication, calls, exercise, even weather changes—and compiles them into a natural language report that gets sent directly to the family group chat. No more writing those verbose summaries myself.
What Can This Skill Actually Do?
According to the GitHub page (no link here), this Skill is automatically triggered every day at 21:00. It first pulls all the sub-skill data related to elder care from memory (such as monitoring checks, SOS events, video calls, music playback, sleep tracking, exercise completion, weather alerts, visitor logs, multi-room activity, health records, medication status), then calls the get_history interface of Home Assistant to retrieve room temperature and humidity historical records, calculates averages and extremes, and finally generates a highly detailed daily report.
I see that it supports more than a dozen data sources, covering almost every aspect of daily elder care, such as:
- Monitoring data: number of check-ins on the elderly person, each with status (normal/caution/warning/emergency)
- SOS events: whether the emergency button was pressed, who handled it, response time
- Video calls: who made a video call today and at what time
- Companion activity: what music the elderly person listened to, how many story episodes were played, which voice commands were used
- Sleep data: last night's bedtime, wake-up time, number of awakenings, sleep quality, and comparison to the weekly average
- Exercise data: did the person exercise today? Completion rate? Reason for not exercising?
- Weather alerts: any heatwave or heavy rain warnings, indoor vs outdoor temperature comparison
- Visitor log: who visited today, how long they stayed
- Multi-room movement: time spent in each room, bathroom visits, nighttime wake-ups
- Health log: blood pressure, blood sugar, heart rate and other measurements
- Medication: whether pills were taken, any missed doses?
Imagine—all this data integrated together forms a complete daily diary of the elderly person's life. And it doesn't just list numbers; it's written in Vietnamese as natural language paragraphs, as if someone were actually posting in the group chat. For example, the report might say: "Bà thức khoảng 7h sáng. Có ngủ trưa từ 13h đến 14h. Nhìn chung bà ngồi xem tivi." Which translates to: "Grandma wakes up around 7am. She naps from 1pm to 2pm. Overall, she sits and watches TV." Very warm and personal.
What Does the Report Template Look Like?
Let me show you the template from the documentation, so you can see it more clearly. Each section has a corresponding emoji, very eye-catching:

This tool has been a lifesaver. It not only saves me time but also gives me peace of mind, knowing that I won't miss anything important. If you're in a similar situation, I highly recommend giving this Skill a try.
